Wednesday Wisdom – With Brave Wings, She Flies

“I could never do what you do!”

I get this message way more than I’d like and it makes me sad… and my response varies, but it’s usually along the lines of “have you even tried?” or “not with that attitude!” because here’s the thing…

I had those same limiting thoughts. I thought I couldn’t do the things too. In fact, 5 years ago I almost said no to Rebecca’s challenge group invite because I was convinced I couldn’t do it due to lingering injuries.

And some things I couldn’t (and some things I still can’t!) do…

…but the difference is I was willing to •try•
I was willing to •fail•
I was willing to •modify•

I was willing to check those limiting beliefs at the door and see what I’m capable of when my MIND and my BELIEF IN MY SELF are in the drivers seat.

I was willing to go in open minded, instead of weighed down by the baggage of what I might not be able to do.

And with that shift came a lot of power. I no longer watch new programs come out and think “I could never do that”, instead I start at Day 1 and I build. And fail. And modify. It’s not always pretty…

But it starts with being brave enough to TRY. You can’t FLY if you don’t TRY.

GO FLY. 

 

Wednesday Wisdom – Listen To Your Body!

When your tiny but mighty legs send you a message, you listen! Or at least I do… now!

(I didn’t always…)

My little legs are feelin’ it all today – the program I’m doing, the much more frequent runs, and just life in general can be taxing on our bodies, you know?

And so while I normally run on scheduled rest days to incur some mileage for the 175 mile Summer Challenge, my body needed the break today, and I’ll honor that.

In my group, we talk a lot about sustainability, which means striking the balance between pushing ourselves but also listening and making smart decisions, and I’m proud to have come so far in my journey that I can honor and appreciate •listening•

Wednesday Wisdom – Reflection

Ahhh, reflection…

My 35th year had some tough moments. But it also contained moments that served as reminders that I am strong, I am capable, and I am worthy.

It showed me I can rise above, with grace, and find safe, healthy, beneficial habits to incorporate into my lifestyle.

•It showed me it’s okay to CRY, it’s okay to FEEL, it’s okay to ask for HELP, and it’s okay to HEAL•

It showed me that I’m okay, and it inspired me to continue to grow into an even better me, and what better of a fresh slate than another trip around the sun? 💕

Wednesday Wisdom – Don’t Take Life Too Seriously

Take your health seriously, take your career seriously, take loving and respecting your family seriously, and take exciting opportunities that come your way seriously.

Just don’t take EVERYTHING too seriously. You need the balance. Laughter is good for the heart and the soul. Find the beauty in the silly, seemingly small moments. A sense of humor is one of the best assets you can have!
