Soul Food Saturday – Best Self

What if I told you that you aren’t competing with anyone else?

Because you aren’t.

Your efforts to show up and better yourself are JUST. THAT… efforts to better YOURSELF and be YOUR best self.

So there’s no need to compete. No need to be jealous or to cut down anyone’s accomplishments. Applaud their efforts and then focus on your own.

Imagine if we all channeled our energy into our own wellness instead of comparing ourselves with others or worrying about what they are or aren’t doing? 😉

 

Wellness – Deadlifts!

Apparently, these new kicks had me feeling extra badassy, because I was deadlifting more than half my body weight today!

No big deal, right? Well actually, to me it is, because again, I keep flashing back to a time in my life where walking was painful, nevermind lifting anything.

And I didn’t go from not being able to lift anything to lifting more than half my weight… I progressed. I got stronger. It’s just another testament to how far I’ve come and the POWER of CONSISTENCY.

The sooner you honor yourself by showing up every day, the sooner you will be at your strongest!

Transformation Tuesday – Not All Transformations Are Physical!

I don’t really have one of those “Wow!” kinds of physical transformations. Rather, my transformation has been mostly internal. It’s been mental, emotional, spiritual and yes, even physical.
What have I transformed since starting my Beachbody journey 3 years ago?

My Diabetes. From out of control to under control.

My mindset. From negative to considerably positive.

My body. From weak due to injuries to strong and capable.
My confidence. From insecure to healthy and expressed.
My spirit. From quiet and barely evident, to bold and obvious.
I have seen myself rise to the occasion, to the challenges, and surprised myself with what I am capable of. And in doing so, I bridged what started as a way to keep myself accountable and my Diabetes under control, into a passion for helping others get healthy too.
So while it’s not entirely something I can show from a side-by-side picture, there is absolutely no mistaking how much I have changed, and how far I have come. I used to just get by, lackluster and low energy. Now I feel VIBRANT. I feel CAPABLE. I am energized and excited to see my vision come to life, my dreams come true.
I no longer feel helpless and hopeless. I feel hopeful and confident! And thats the best transformation of them all!

Thursday Thoughts – We All Have Struggles

I think some people are under the impression that us wellness coaches/mentors never struggle, never have days where it doesn’t come easy; like we never have days where we just don’t want to work out. It’s not true; we ALL have those days. We just know the powerfully exhilarating feeling that comes after getting up and getting it done anyways. We know how it makes us feel physically, emotionally, spiritually and mentally. And it’s always worth it.

But absolutely, most of us have days where it is a battle within to get those workout clothes on and press PLAY! This is why we are constantly and consistently participating in the Fitness/Challenge groups… we also benefit from the motivation, shared struggles, tips, and all of that. We are just as human as you, we share the struggles!

It’s during these times — the ones you most DON’T want to — that you need to! These are character building moments, showing you either how badly you want something, or how little it doesn’t matter to you. If your health and wellness matters to you, you trudge forward, doesn’t have to be perfect, you don’t have to crush it… JUST MOVE! beautiful-struggle

Thursday Thoughts – Believe

The day you believe there is nothing you can’t do, is the day there truly is nothing you can’t do.

Love this. Belief is like the one ingredient you can’t substitute. Belief is like baking – due to its nature, its precise… if you don’t have the proper amount of certain things, your cake wont set, or your cookies will be flat, so on and so forth. It’s not like cooking, where you have much more freedom to improvise.

When you believe in yourself, you set the mental note for any of those doubts; you put them on notice that while they may try to derail you, you will fail forward and keep on trucking. When you truly believe that you can overcome whatever obstacles are placed in your way, YOU CAN. But without that belief, those obstacles don’t seem scalable. They don’t seem like something you can overcome.

You’ve gotta BELIEVE to ACHIEVE.
