Tuesday Thoughts – I Bend So I Don’t Break

There are so many reasons I work out; so many reasons I CHOOSE to MOVE my body.

Dealing with life and the ups and downs is definitely one of them – if you ask anyone close to me, they will tell you that moving my body has been my preferred method of stress relief for almost 6 years now.

It’s free; it doesn’t come with a sizable credit card bill the next month, it doesn’t come with a hangover…

There are so many facets of life that are gonna come at you, test you, and try to break you.

Your job? Don’t let them!

Look, I’m gonna be honest… when we didn’t have power yesterday, one of my thoughts was definitely about “but I can’t miss my workout… I have a punny shirt I’ve waited months to wear!”

Plus there’s the whole stress relief, and the fact on a day I’m gonna pig out I •need• to move my body… so of course, it was a thought for sure!

So yeah, it’s been a rough couple of days, but in the end I’m GRATEFUL we even HAVE a home to power, and to heat (yeah our furnace started having issues basically the second the power fiasco got resolved 😳)

And I’m GRATEFUL that I have workouts and a capable body to help me work through the stressors of being a homeowner.

Move It Monday – LIIFT4 Round 2!

Back at it! Round 2 began today!

“But Kara, I thought you were taking it a little easier?!”

And I am… I won’t be running as much, and I’m not focusing on increasing my weights as much as I am focusing on my nutrition, and mastering FORM…

But I still need to workout, I still need to move my body. That’s stress relief for me and now is definitely NOT the time to eliminate a much needed source of that!

WHY Wednesday

WHY do I workout 6 days a week?
WHY do I get up before the sun?
WHY do I post about it?

For more energy.
For confidence.
For stress relief.
For fun.
For the challenge.
For accountability.
For an escape.
For empowerment.
For the feel-good endorphins.
For motivation.
For my health.
For MYSELF.
And full disclosure? For the MUSCLES!

Self Care Saturday – Acupuncture

My self care Saturday included a wonderful acupuncture session!

I keep thinking back to a fairly recent time when I was adamant against VOLUNTARILY being stuck with needles – I mean Diabetes blood work on its own means a LOT of needles!

But truly, acupuncture is amazing and I don’t even feel the needles – but if I did, it would STILL be worth it. I always feel clear headed and upbeat after, and it helps me get OUT of my own head, which is always a welcome release!

Worth It Wednesday – Mind. Body. Spirit.

Do you feel you are well rounded in wellness? Sometimes I do, and sometimes I don’t. I don’t struggle with fitness, as I truly love the outlet and how I feel after.

But I definitely struggle with mind/spirit… those are the challenging ones, for me. I work on my mindset every day, but it is still too easy for me to go back to a negative state which dampens my spirit and makes things seem worse than they actually are!

Personal development, acupuncture, Tapping and sweat therapy are helping, but the battle is definitely there.
