Superfood Saturday – Mushrooms

For most people, mushrooms are either liked, or hated… no middle ground. Where do you stand on them?

I am one who loves them – raw or cooked! I especially appreciate that they are low-carb but high-fiber — that’s a Diabetic’s dream! 🙂

So many varieties… give them a chance!

Thirsty Thursday – Karma Water

I first discovered this stuff in Chicago, after being up til 4 am partying for a close friends wedding, and then having to check out from our hotel early the next morning. I don’t typically buy flavored water, or even water from gas stations, but I was dehydrated and desperate, I guess you could say.

So this caught my eye and I decided to give it a try. I noted the ingredients and noted it included sugars, but I suspected it was fairly minimal amounts and so I went with it. All the vitamins are stored in the cap until you are ready to drink it, and then you infuse the water with the vitamins just by pushing the cap in. I LOVED that it stated on the packaging that vitamins deteriorate in water, causing premixed vitamin drinks to lose their strength, because I believe that to be true. I don’t typically drink vitamin drinks, but I liked that it was gonna stay fresh til I needed it.

It is low calorie, low sodium, lactose free, gluten free, and it provides 110% of fresh Vitamins A, C, D and essential B Vitamins. They had a variety of flavors, but me being the green tea lover I am, naturally picked this one.

The verdict? Honestly I felt better shortly after drinking it… I was really tired and fatigued, but I felt better on the ride from the hotel to my friends house, and I felt rehydrated (I was also drinking regular water in addition to this, which of course played a role). Good to have when you crave something other than water (I drink a lot of water, at least 80 ounces a day, but every once in a while I want something else.
