Adventures in Pregnancy – 37 weeks and gettin’ schooled!

Ahhh, pregnancy. I’m 37 weeks in now, and boy has pregnancy taught me a few things!

I’m a doer, a very action-oriented person. I always have errands, projects, a house to maintain, things to be done, because I don’t love too much idle time – our time on Earth is so short, while it IS necessary to relax, I don’t wanna spend TOO MUCH time relaxing, I’d rather be LIVING.

And pregnancy is this weird mashup of having so. much. to. do, yet such little energy with which to do it… and especially towards the end, feeling a strong urge to take it extra easy to store your energy reserves for what’s coming.

At a time when everything seems to speed up, it’s necessary to slow down, and it’s been an adjustment for me, truly. I’m not much of a couch potato, but I’ve logged more downtime couch hours during the last half of my pregnancy than probably all my life combined (probably an exaggeration but it does feel that way!)

While I’m POSITIVE it will all be worth it, it’s definitely been an adjustment; that’s not necessarily a bad thing, it’s just a fact of life. But it’s part of this whole blessing, so I’m doing my best to honor that.

Did you slow down towards the end, or did you stay full speed ahead?

Emotional eaters, rejoice! Help is on the way!

Any emotional eaters out there? Maybe you let food dictate your lifestyle? Maybe you can’t control your intake? Maybe you start off with honorable intentions but before you know it, you are in a downward spiral?

Do you drown your emotions in a plate of nachos, or a pint of Ben & Jerry’s? Do you eat out of boredom? Do you restrict certain foods, labeling them “bad”? Do you feel like you are chained to a negative mindset around food?

{{ BREAK FREE FROM THOSE SHACKLES! }}

Food is to NOURISH us. To fuel us. Food is meant to be ENJOYED >> not used as a punishment or a crutch to blanket your emotional state with.

I get it… I am an emotional eater to my CORE. As a Diabetic, that’s not ideal, to say the least.

But FINALLY… a program that will focus on the “why” not the how, and will also focus on IDENTIFYING the TRIGGERS that make it hard to lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

It will help you SHIFT your MINDSET; no more EMOTIONAL eating, no more MINDLESS snacking, and no more PUNISHING yourself for eating food you LOVE.

You guys KNOW how big I am on MINDSET!

Instead of “diets” that focus on what you CAN’T eat, this simple and easy approach will have you focused on what you CAN eat so you feel full, satisfied, and in control, without ever counting calories or points or measuring food.

Food Tip Friday – Juice From Lemon or Lime

Ever gone to squeeze some citrus in, and felt like it was a desert, barren with no real juicy goodness? Or gotten a little juice, but is that all!? I used to think it was just my inability to squeeze harder at times due to my neuropathy/arthritis, but chefs all around the world say you should roll it, with pressure, on your countertop before squeezing, this allows the flesh to break up a bit, maximizing the juices you get out of it.

Thursday Thoughts – There is Always More to Learn

I applaud the people who study their craft. Who practice, relentlessly, to get better at it. The people who accept they may be GOOD at it but can always be BETTER. The people who LISTEN to valuable advice given to them, and step back, and can ACKNOWLEDGE when they need to do some work.

The people who are done growing, done learning… I can only shake my head. I can’t imagine being someone so arrogant that I couldn’t look beyond where I am to where I could go. I’m so grateful I’m not.
Stay open minded. Stay grounded. Stay hungry for learning. There is truly ALWAYS more to learn, always.
