Why do the holidays make people so rude?!

So happy the holidays are making some people extra friendly, kind, patient and generous…

Just kidding, it’s making some people absolutely nuts!

Luckily not everyone is like the majority of people I encountered today!

Truthbomb Tuesday – You Can’t Pour From An Empty Cup

I have been a bit quieter because I have been dealing with some stuff, and much of it required my attention and focus, so it seemed best to just ease up a little and allow myself the space I needed.

That right there indicates my growth over the years – in the past, I would struggle mightily with stepping back from ANYTHING, and I would have just continued to run myself ragged. Isn’t it the best feeling when you REALIZE you can’t pour from an empty cup?

Transformation Tuesday – Gentle Cleanse

4¼ inches. Gone. And NOT missed.

Those inches were eliminated from my body during a gentle cleanse I took on last week!

I had been so weighed down with all the lingering summery splurges, and holiday indulgences, and as active as I am physically, that still isn’t enough to override some terrrrrible eating habits.

What, you think I like the fact that nutrition is quite a big chunk of wellness? No, but it is… so I gotta roll with it!

Honestly I think most people know by now I don’t really care about weight or pounds lost – I care about how I FEEL (cleaned out, energized, mentally sharp and oh, not to worry, still super sassy! 😉)

Have you ever done a cleanse?

Saturday Sips – Gingerbread Latte

Having company? Headed to a party? How about a seasonal drink?!

  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp ground ginger
  • 2 tsp molasses – blackstrap or regular
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp strong coffee
  • 1 cup milk of choice – almond milk, coconut milk, etc.
  • Sweetener of choice, to taste

Mix everything together in a small pot or in a mug. Then heat until desired temperature is reached. (Alternatively, if you want a foamy latte: Mix spices into coffee. In a big measuring cup, heat or microwave the milk until foamy. Then pour the milk into the coffee mixture.)

Motivation Monday – Today is a good day to kill it

Ahhh, the Monday after a long holiday weekend, the first one of the holiday season, AND the last one in November? I know, you probably wanna do nothing more than binge Netflix and relax (just me!?)

BUT…

This is a great day to be productive, to set the tone for how you want your holiday season to go, to maybe check 1 or 2 boxes off your to-do list, and also set the tone for the week!

Monday is waiting for you. Go!

Saturday Sips – Spiced Rum Fig Kombucha

It’s Saturday – let’s have a cocktail, shall we?

Spiced Rum Fig Kombucha –

  • 3 teaspoons fig simple syrup (see below)
  • 2 ounces Spiced rum
  • 2 ounces fresh squeezed orange juice
  • Whole ice and crushed ice
  • Kombucha (I like Synergy or Health-Ade)
  • Fig (for garnish)

Add the fig syrup, spiced rum, orange juice and a few whole ice cubes to a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously. Strain into a glass with crushed ice and top with kombucha. Serve with a fresh fig.

Fig Simple Syrup

  • 12 ounces fresh figs, stems removed and quartered (about 6)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (brown sugar, coconut sugar, maple sugar, etc)
  • 3/4 cup filtered water

Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir until sugar starts to dissolves and figs begin to soften. Mash the figs as they cook. Once all of the sugar has dissolved and figs are breaking apart, remove from heat and allow to sit, covered, for 30 minutes. Cool completely before straining into a clean jar or bottle, cover and keep refrigerated for up to 2 weeks.

Note: I prefer to use coconut sugar, personally.
