Flex Friday – Back

This is an EMOTIONAL flex pic to post…

See, there was a time when not only were my back/shoulders not muscular, but they were in PAIN. Two back to back accidents where I was rear ended had them fragile and weak.

At one point, it was painful to even carry a purse, and I have never been the type to carry a heavy purse loaded with everything but the kitchen sink, but it was painful to even have a small purse with just my wallet and cell phone in it.

And if you have ever had a back/shoulder injury, you know how it affects EVERY part of your body, so all of me was becoming a pile of weak mush. I almost didn’t even accept Rebecca’s invite to her Challenge Group, citing my back injuries and how I was still having pain and spasms, even several years removed from the accidents.

But I said YES. I modified HEAVILY, but I kept going. If something caused actual pain, I eased up a little, but I kept moving on a regular basis.

As I strengthened my CORE, I strengthened EVERYTHING, so my back spasms CEASED, the pain SUBSIDED for the most part (still have the occasional day where my lower back is a little tender), and I got stronger and stronger.

And so here we are today – I regularly complete intense programs with no pain. I have some muscles, and some definition. I feel strong.

And I can truly say, when I was in the throes of feeling weak and in pain, I TRULY never thought the day would come where I not only FEEL strong, but I can SEE evidence of my strength and how far I have come, too.

Don’t let your current circumstances keep you from starting – the name of the game is modifying until you don’t have to anymore. I speak from experience; I am living PROOF.

Try It Tuesday – Beachbody All Access

I used to think “results? From my living room? With no gym equipment?! Pfffft”

I mean… I had questions! Like..

  • How would I know when to do what workout?
  • How could I keep myself motivated?
  • How exactly would anyone know if I did my workout or not?
  • How would I know what to fuel my body with to stay on track?

Well… the beauty of Beachbody and our accountability groups, is the answers were GIVEN to me. They were provided for me.

How?

  • All programs come with a calendar, structured safely, to help take away the guesswork!
  • There are tons of groups – big ones, small ones, specific program ones, and general ones – to help keep us motivated. My team and I have an ongoing one, and we always have several specific program offerings too. Basically put, no matter what you are doing, we have you covered!
  • These same groups provide the accountability to keep us on track. We interact and engage daily, sharing our workouts, and anything else. We hold each other accountable, help each other through the struggles and cheer each other through the triumphs!
  • All programs also come with a meal plan, so you know what you can eat to fuel yourself, and when you pair that with the proven track record of Shakeology, you are golden!

It’s actually simple. Show up. Follow the plan. Use food as fuel, not a crutch for emotions (a treat here and there is encouraged!). Participate in the groups. Believe in yourself!

If you can do that, you can get fit ANYWHERE, including the comfort and convenience of your HOME!

Are you ready to give it a try? Summer is coming, and you want to feel good in your body, you want to feel healthy in your own skin. If you are willing to put in the work, I am willing to help you get, and stay on track.

You with me?

If you’d like to work with me, you can create a FREE membership here. We can discuss the best option for you! Already know what you want? You can shop here! You can also try a FREE trial of Beachbody On Demand – who doesn’t like to try before they buy!?

I truly look forward to working with you – helping other is my passion, and the end goal is always to help others feel GOOD!

Tip Tuesday – Stretch Daily

Seems simple enough, right? Here’s the thing – for as simple and obvious as this tip is, it really is a powerful tip! Our bodies CRAVE stretching. Stretching releases muscle tension, prevents muscle cramps, improves lymphatic flow as well as blood flow, which can make you happier AND keep your digestion working well! It also helps muscle stagnation, which can make you feel off.

Stretching when you get out of bed, and before you get into bed is a great practice to get into – even a few minutes will help you feel better, and help to energize you!

It doesn’t have to be complicated stretching either, anything where you can feel the stretch is perfect!

Christmas Eve

Merry Christmas Eve, dear readers! Here is a poem I saw and loved, so I thought I would share!

There’s More to Christmas…
There’s more, much more to Christmas
Than candle-light and cheer;
It’s the spirit of sweet friendship
That brightens all the year;
It’s thoughtfulness and kindness,
It’s hope reborn again,
For peace, for understanding
And for goodwill to men!

Do you have a favorite poem or story for Christmas Eve?

I hope you have a fabulous Christmas Eve, and a very merry Christmas!

Transformation Tuesday – My Dog Roxy

This Transformation Tuesday is a wee bit different than others but it is one of the nearest and dearest to my heart – my dog Roxy!

When she arrived at the shelter from Arkansas with her Mom (Mom was BARELY not a puppy – super young), this is what she looked like…. her ribs and tailbone were super visible to the eye, and evident to the touch. Despite being a black lab, she had basically no fur – just little spots here and there.

When my friends fostered her a few months after her arrival, she was much healthier but still needed to put on some pounds, and her fur was much better, but still a work in progress. You could still feel her tailbone, but much better.

When we first met her, we fell in love with her. We adopted her soon after, and we have worked so hard to give her a stable, loving, safe home with regular feedings and bathroom breaks, tons of toys to play with, as many cuddles and snuggles as she would like, and baths to keep her clean.

Her eyes are now so bright. Her coat is thick and shiny, and you can only barely feel her tailbone. The vet said she’s at a perfect weight, and is a healthy, happy young lady (10 months on the 25th), and we couldn’t be happier or love her more.

She’s changed so much, despite her rough start to life, she has so much love and vibrancy to her. She loves people, loves kids, loves other dogs, loves to play… she is so full of life and happy in her furever home.

I am sharing this because I know there are still tons of animals that need furever homes, and I would caution people not to judge a book by it’s cover, or a dog by it’s appearance – she looks so rough in her before pic, which is why it’s even more important that she found a furever home with owners who can give her everything she needs and deserves. The other animals deserve the same! I don’t know if anyone passed her by based on her appearance, but if they did, their loss is for sure the gain of my husband and I, and I could NOT be more grateful for that.

She is such a love bug, she can’t speak but she shows her gratitude and her appreciation every single day. She’s one of the best things thats ever happened to my husband and I, and we honestly could not love her more.

So here is to you, sweet Roxy, for your amazing transformation and for all the people who had a hand in helping you get to a healthy, happy existence.

Go forth and prosper ❤

Fitness Friday – Help through the Holidays

Do you believe in strength in numbers?

Maybe some of you can relate to this… life feels super busy right now, I feel pulled in too many directions, and I know as we get closer to the holidays, that feeling will expand.

Personally, I am not willing to just roll over and let all my hard work with my health and fitness go to waste, though that would definitely be easier right now! But no, I refuse to do that, so I am brainstorming ways to help myself and anyone else interested in accountability during this crazy time period.

If I were to offer a 7 day wellness accountability group where I laid out about 20 minutes of at home workouts, some recipes, and tools to help you beat the plethora of sugar temptations, would you be interested?

Tis the Season!

Feel Good Friday – Say No to Say Yes

Who doesn’t want to feel good? It’s easy to feel pulled in so many directions with the holidays, in addition to all the other happenings in life. One way to keep it in check is to learn to say NO!

You do not have to attend every party, every gathering, every gift exchange, every cookie swap, and everything else. Your time is not infinite. By saying no to something that doesn’t serve you, or that you don’t enjoy, you are able to say YES to something you DO enjoy!

And since the goal in life is to do more things you enjoy, this gets you closer to that.

Do things you enjoy; things that make you feel good!
