Sunday Shakeology – Greek Islander

Mmmm perfect time for this!

If you use more ice, it becomes thicker, and like a froyo style!

Food Swap Friday – Greek Yogurt for Sour Cream

I am a member of the “Sour Cream Junkies” club… I LOVE the stuff. I know, not good, or good for me… today’s swap has actually become one of my favorites, because it really does offer the same taste and effect, while offering MORE protein and LESS fat than it’s counterpart of Sour cream.

Note: occasionally, I still enjoy sour cream… it’s become the exception, not the rule, and that’s okay — life IS about balance, after all!

Have you tried this swap?

Saturday Snack Spotlight – Frozen Yogurt Trail Mix Bars

Warmer weather is coming, and we tend to look towards cooling snacks in the warmer months, right? Not saying you have to rely heavily on ice cream or chase after the Ice Cream truck (ahh, memories!), but I totally get your desire for the cold stuff!

These Frozen Yogurt Trail Mix Bars are great, and not only can you create different flavors by using extracts mixed in the yogurt (or use flavored yogurt, but I steer away from those, personally), but you can also use different fruits, a variety of nuts (I have sliced almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, walnuts, peanuts, and cashews in mine), and really get tons of goodness into a little bar!

You can opt not to add the chocolate chips (I prefer mini ones, but didn’t have any on hand), but I mean, a little chocolate never hurt anyone, so don’t be afraid to live a little! 🙂

I used coconut granola to add even more of a flavor boost!

You can also opt to use ice cube trays to make these bite sized (I have the soft bottom ones that allow you to pop contents out, but a knife would get them out of a standard ice cube tray).

How do they sound?

Sunday Shakeology – Greek Coffee

This will put a little pep in your step! Great combination of flavors, I had this a few days ago and it was delicious! Between the Shakeology and the Greek yogurt, you are getting a great amount of protein!

If you’d like to give Shakeology a try, you can get one packet of all 7 flavors here, or choose your flavor and take the 30 day challenge here.

If you’d like to chat more about it, this happens to be one of my favorite things to talk about! 🙂

Sunday Shakeology – Sweet Almond Sunrise

Where are my almond lovers? I love almonds… raw, toasted, milked…. I like their taste and their texture too.

Makes a great addition to your Shakeology, too!

You can also use real almonds in place of the extract but your shake will still have bits and pieces texturally, unless you have one of those really awesome blenders. Or, place them in the food processor first and blitz away!

Who’s all about Almonds?!

Saturday Snack Spotlight – YoNuggets

I came across this recipe by chance, and since I love Greek yogurt and fruit, it sounded yummy to me, so I made them! I altered the recipe by adding 1 Scoop of Cafe Latte Shakeology, and I used banana instead of cantaloupe!

Have you ever tried these? Would you?

(Note: I found these adorable popout ice trays at TJ Maxx’s home section… I froze these, let them thaw a bit, and they popped right out!)

Sunday Shakeology – Pineapple Cheesecake

Holy smokes, this one is GOOD! I might be biased because I love cheesecake SO much, but YUM!

Not only do I love cheesecake, but I also love pineapple! Did you know that, aside from tasting sweet and delicious, pineapple is a wealth of health benefits due to its nutrients, vitamins, and minerals, including potassium, copper, manganese, calcium, magnesium, vitamin C, beta carotene, thiamin, B6, and folate, and bromelain, as well as soluble AND insoluble fiber. It is high on the glycemic index, but fine to consume once in a while – just go for fresh over canned!
