Fit Tip Friday – Mind your muscle!

Ladies (and gentlemen!) – I know it’s easy to zone out, getting your workout done to the intense beats of your music, or the latest episode of Stranger Things {{or insert whatever show you watch, here!), but mindless exercise makes your hard work more forgettable —and you won’t see your best results, either.

There is a tremendous difference between going through the motions of a particular move and truly thinking, feeling, and engaging the targeted muscles.

Don’t cheat yourself out of that feeling – pay attention and ENJOY getting STRONGER with each rep!

 

Friday Fit Tip – Show Up

You can have all the goals in the world, but unless you show up, they stay as thoughts, not accomplishments!

I get it, sometimes we are just not in the mood… but do you know what I have found approximately 98.2% of the time? Doing it anyways HELPS your mood – knowing you pushed through when you didn’t want to and did something to better your life is powerful, and a mood booster!

Show up. Get it done. Bask in the glory after – that’s the only way to achieve your goals.

Friday Fit Tip – Pre- and Post-Workout Nutrition

Simple facts today – you h ave to properly fuel your workout, AND your recovery. Preworkout for me is Greek yogurt, flax, and berries, sometimes with a little agave. And I take the guesswork out of postworkout, usually, by having Recover from Beachbody’s Performance Line, because it’s simple and effective, and gives me another excuse to enjoy a chocolate flavored beverage guilt free!

But you must fuel yourself properly if you truly want to maximize your efforts!

Friday Fitness – Beachbody On Demand

Even though I am between official programs (because I timed my last one to finish just before my vacation — planning ahead is my JAM), I am still working out this week, here in our vacation home.

I am making it work with the space and my Beachbody On Demand All Access – I have every single Beahbody workout ever made, and all I need is my laptop (or my tablet, or even my phone).

I can do gentle stretching or I can pump some weights. I can be a cardio queen or a dancing machine.

Friday Fit Tip – Post Thanksgiving!

Whether you kept your Thanksgiving meal sensible or not, this fit tip might help if you still ate more than usual.

Best advice for post-turkey day meal?

Do a high-intensity workout 12 to 16 hours after. Working out hard during this timeframe helps your body burn off the energy in the muscles and liver. Go for a fast run, get in a high-intensity strength training workout or a combination of the two.

Nothing wrong with a little (healthy!) competition, but always with yourself… this way you get better. Not everyone has the same circumstances, workout regimes, health issues, etc.

Don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s – it’s one of the quickest ways to psych yourself out.

Always focus on being better… better than you were a year ago, better than you were a month ago, and better than you were yesterday!
