Friday Life Tip – Stop Giving An Eff…

Friday LIFE tip – stop giving an eff about what anyone else thinks of your fitness efforts!

If you enjoy something and it’s not hurting anyone else, who cares what they think?!

Truly, I never thought some people would react so negatively to me just trying to keep my health in check… but luckily, I realized it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks, so that’s not where I focus my energy – I channel that energy inward and focus on myself, because that’s the whole point!

You do you, and let others do them.

(Oh and maybe if you see someone working on themselves, whether it’s your thang or not, maybe just applaud them? Be an encourager, the world has enough critics!)

Thankful Thursday – My Awesome Husband

Nothing I do could be done without this guy. I know, I sound so co-dependent, but it’s not that… he is the fire that keeps me going when I doubt myself (happens), when I feel like giving up (happens), when I feel like I don’t matter or make a difference (happens), when I feel like I could possibly not give more of myself or do anything more (happens)… no matter what, this guy keeps me going.

He encourages me, and has from day one. I am sure when I told him I wanted to do this, he probably had his doubts like most other spouses, but I think he saw the light when he saw how passionate and excited I am to help people. When he saw things that meant so much to me that I couldn’t help but cry, I think he realized just how much this means to me.

He has never wavered in his support of or belief in me, and that is priceless. I am sure it is a struggle to see someone go through so much, and I am sure it can’t be easy to encourage someone to keep going when they feel drained and depleted; completely defeated.

But not this guy. He redirects me towards my goals. He points out how much people have said I help them. He pushes me to keep going, to be the best me I can be, to reach more people, help more people.

He knows I am doing this to give us a better life. To give our dog a better life. To give the kids we haven’t yet been blessed with a better life.

And the last two years, he has attended Summit with me. So he firsthand witnesses the sheer exhaustion. He witnesses how jazzed up I come back from workshops and workouts. He sees me light up when I attempt to share how it feels to workout at the crack of dawn with 25,000 like-minded people.

I have always struggled with self doubt and feeling like I matter; like I am visible, not invisible. And he reinforces on the daily that I matter, that I am making a difference, that I can do this, and that I am worthy of it all.

And bonus: he doesn’t point out that I LOOK as tired as I am, haha. Beyond grateful for this guy ❤

Tip Tuesday – Let It R.A.I.N.

I was chatting with a friend recently, and we were keepin’ it real (what, don’t judge – life is challenging sometimes, and being able to discuss things in a productive manner can be helpful!), and talking about feeling discouraged and overwhelmed. Both of these feelings can happen to anyone, and are valid feelings.

What’s important, is not to let them rule you. Some people prefer to sweep these things under the rug (I’m not trying to judge you, but in my experience, they tend to creep their way out eventually…), whereas I have been trying to let myself feel, and let myself heal.

This handy acronym is neat – and a nice reminder that like rainstorms, whatever emotions are crippling you will pass.

Self Love Saturday – Most Powerful Words In The Universe

Do you speak kindly to yourself? Do you uplift, inspire, empower and encourage yourself with the words you use?

Some people — myself included — are so very quick to offer kind words to others, but when it comes to speaking to OURSELVES, we don’t get the same kind consideration.

Why is that? I have been working on this, and it is a battle, honestly. But I know I am worthy of kind words. I know the words I say to myself are the most powerful ones of all.

Are you using your words wisely?

SELF. LOVE. SATURDAY. Speak kindly to yourself!

Thursday Thoughts – Coach

What goes through your head when you hear the word “Coach”?

Do you think back to childhood sports and recall the Coach of your teams? Do you think back to a leader, someone who was willing to tell you how you could get better, faster, and stronger, but also just wanted you to have fun, and enjoy whatever sport you were doing participating in? Do you maybe think of someone who would bark orders at you, never making you feel like your efforts were enough?
A lot of times, people hear the word Coach associated with Beachbody, and I think its possible a handful assume that as a Beachbody Coach, we are going to do the latter of the above behaviors – we’re going to push you and yell at you and work you until failure… and I think that’s what scares some people off. I say this because this recently happened  to a friend of mine – she thought my job as a Beachbody Coach was to yell at people and humiliate them into finishing their workout. And I will confess, I was a little thrown.

My role as a Beachbody Coach is nothing even similar to that. My job IS to encourage you, but in a positive, uplifting manner. It IS my job to step in when you may not be feeling it, and remind you of your goals, and your why. And yes, my job is to be there in the trenches with you – showing you I’m doing it too; that you are not alone. As a coach, it’s my philosophy to not embrace excuses, but rather, embrace solutions.

goals coach Kara
It’s not my job, intent, or mission to humiliate you. Or make you cry. Or single you out. It’s my job to always encourage you to do your best. It’s my job to remind you in those weak moments, that you are stronger than you think. It’s my job to cheer you on, and encourage you, perhaps inspire you, to add value to your life, and to show you that what you set your mind to, you can achieve. And I mean yeah, I would push you, because that’s how we get to the other side – the side that everything we want is on. Going from the comfort zone to the uncomfortable zone is exactly what you need. I say this as someone that resisted leaving the safety of my comfort zone for SO long. If I knew then, what I knew now… well that comfort zone would have been traversed LONG ago. So I will push you, because that’s what you need to achieve your goals.
But I would NEVER, and I do mean NEVER, make you feel less than, or berate you, or poohpooh your best efforts. I am here to only lift you up and be your voice of reason when your fear is telling you that you can’t do this.
And so this is an open invite, if you would like some help reaching your goals, I am here for you. In a positive, uplifting way, nothing less! Let’s get you to those goals, shall we? 🙂

Simple Saturday – Live Training

I have a live training with my team today, and I am excited! Last time we all gathered in person was awesome, and bolstered my belief that I am on the right path! I was in a bad mood, negative, and didn’t want to bring anyone down, so I questioned whether I should go. Little did I know, it was going that was going to not only lift me out of my bad mood, but clear away a LOT of the fog, too!

I fully believe in surrounding yourself with positive, uplifting people who see bright futures ahead. I am lucky enough to not only have a close circle of childhood friends who do this, but I also have my Beachbody friends, who have become family!

conscious effort

Life is challenging, and when you have a tribe of people who will help pull you out of any funks, encourage and empower you, inspire and motivate you, and cheer and celebrate you… well, frankly, you are very blessed, and I consider myself extremely blessed to be on this amazing journey with these amazing people.

I foresee a lot of love, light, laughs, and yes, learning today. And I couldn’t be happier about it!

It really is the simplest things in life that bring the most joy 🙂
