Thursday Thoughts – It takes STRENGTH to ask for help

She’s referring to depression, here. And she’s right! Talking to someone, asking for help, admitting you aren’t feeling happy or like yourself… NONE of these things are signs of weakness.

It takes a TREMENDOUS amount of strength to share what’s going on, to admit you aren’t happy and need help.

If YOU need someone to talk to, or just someone who will listen, I am always here. No judgment, just compassion and a friendly shoulder to lean on, because life is tough and we are all in this together.

You matter, your feelings matter, and your life matters 💕

Wellness Wednesday

Isn’t it funny how RESISTANT we are to the very things that could HELP us feel better if we would just ALLOW them the opportunity to do so?

I’ve been transparent about how resistant I was to acupuncture because the idea of voluntarily sticking a needle in my body – of ANY size – is not my idea of a good time… yet in a twist I was NOT expecting, I CRAVE these appointments now, because I know how they make me FEEL!

I purposely scheduled my monthly acupuncture appointment to be right after my trip so it could help me get the stressors out of my body, get back to feeling at least somewhat mentally sharp, process all the emotions of the last few weeks and just give me an outlet (and an excuse to relax 😉)

So funny, if you told me a year ago I’d be counting the days til my next appointments…

What’s something you resisted for a long time?

Self Love Saturday – Kara Does The Ultimate Reset!

Spent my Friday night finalizing my shopping list for my next adventure starting Monday – the Ultimate Reset!

Real talk here: I’ve avoided doing this for 4 ( four! ) years because it TERRIFIED me. I knew all the benefits and how wonderful people felt, but all I managed to focus on was that I was gonna have to give up cheese (no seriously, that’s one of the hardest parts for me!) instead of embracing what it could do for me and how it could help me – mind, body AND soul.

So it’s time! It will be a challenge but when have we ever seen me back down from those?!

My body needs this.
My body deserves this.

I’m ready to conquer something that’s held me back for YEARS, I hope you’ll tune into my journey!

Self Care Saturday – Acupuncture

My self care Saturday included a wonderful acupuncture session!

I keep thinking back to a fairly recent time when I was adamant against VOLUNTARILY being stuck with needles – I mean Diabetes blood work on its own means a LOT of needles!

But truly, acupuncture is amazing and I don’t even feel the needles – but if I did, it would STILL be worth it. I always feel clear headed and upbeat after, and it helps me get OUT of my own head, which is always a welcome release!

Have you ever gotten acupuncture?

Tip Tuesday – Tired? Exercise anyways!

Yes, it’s hard to get motivated to move when you are tired. After a long workday, exercising can feel like the last thing you’d want to do, but getting your sweat on will actually energize you!

Along with mood and depression, fatigue improved after a single 30-minute moderate intensity exercise session, according to a study published in Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise. “Everything we do uses oxygen, so when you exercise it helps you work more efficiently and you don’t tire as easily,” says Nutting. “You also function better mentally.”

Give it a try!

Tip Tuesday – Working out in Nature

This girl right here is always right at home in nature! Always have been, always will be. Few things remain as constant!

Occasionally, I will take my workouts outside, to a park, on the beach… not as often as I would like (because I have to get home and shower, and still get all the way down to work!), but sometimes.

And honestly, besides the much better scenery, there are plenty of benefits to getting your fitness on outside! Here are a handful!

Do you know of any others? Do you often workout outdoors? This is also where Beachbody On Demand comes in really handy – you can take your workouts to wherever your heart desires!
