I have been a bit quieter because I have been dealing with some stuff, and much of it required my attention and focus, so it seemed best to just ease up a little and allow myself the space I needed.
That right there indicates my growth over the years – in the past, I would struggle mightily with stepping back from ANYTHING, and I would have just continued to run myself ragged. Isn’t it the best feeling when you REALIZE you can’t pour from an empty cup?
If you have these kind of people in your life, be thankful and apprecative of them! These are the keepers – we are ALL busy, but there is something to be said for a ride-or-die friend who makes the love and support happen no matter what.
I have a lot of these people in my life and I could not be more grateful for, of appreciative of, these treasures. I am a lucky girl, and I know it!
This time of year is challenging, unless you are some sort of superhuman being. Traffic, shopping, tons of food and treats tempting you, time with relatives who may or may not leave you exhausted, in addition to everything else in life, and trying to balance it all without feeling like burying your head in the sand or pulling your hair out.
I’m not saying this will be EASY…. but…. I do think it will be worthwhile.
Take 10 minutes today to do nothing. Just sit (or lay, or even stand), and just exist. Clear your head of your worries, and talk to yourself. Tell yourself that you can handle the next 6 weeks. You will make it through this. Ask for the strength, and then truly believe that YOU are in control of the holidays – don’t let them control you!
Holidays come every year. This is nothing you haven’t handled before. You can do this. Take some time to center yourself, to make a gameplan of what you need to do/not do to make it through the holidays, and stay in control — you’ve got this!
