Thursday Thoughts – Health Issues Don’t Discriminate

Did you know that health issues don’t discriminate?

Like most other girls in the 30-40 year old range, I too thought Dylan was dreamy! I’m sad Luke lost his life at age 52…

But I see a lot of people commenting on his age and how he’s ‘too young’ to have died from a stroke/complications from a stroke, and while I understand the sentiment, again, health issues DO NOT discriminate.

They affect young and old, black and white, gay and straight, all religions, all political backgrounds, from all parts of the world, all professions, all income brackets… so on and so forth.

Health issues simply don’t discriminate.

And sometimes there is truly no rhyme or reason as to why we suffer health issues.

I know people who don’t really move their bodies, don’t really eat anything of nutritious value, fill their bodies with substances and alcohol, and yet have the paperwork to prove they are “healthy” across the board.

Similarly, I know people who do the majority of things right, and still can’t get into a health groove.

But all this is just one of many reasons why I work out. Why I try to make the majority of the food I eat nourishing and nutritious. Why I get acupuncture to help me heal and deal with stress. Why I drink water like tomorrow it could be outlawed.

Why I do EVERYTHING I do, and WHY I invite others to JOIN ME in making small changes that could make a BIG difference in their life.

It doesn’t mean we won’t face health issues, unfortunately. I mean, if only there was a guarantee, I’m pretty sure that’d propel a LOT of people into action, am I right?!

But there is something to be said for taking PROACTIVE measures. There is something to be said for LOVING yourself enough to want better for yourself. To care enough NOW.

How many of us would get our asses in gear NOW if we had a crystal ball that would predict health issues in our FUTURE?

In a perfect world, doing the majority of things right would set you up for a long life with no health issues or complications. But the world isn’t perfect and neither are we.

But every bit helps, so let us not strive for PERFECTION but rather, strive to empower ourselves to be BETTER than we were yesterday; to shine BRIGHTER than we ever have.

And if you need help and support in doing that? I got you. Truly, we are all in this together 💕

 

Tuesday Thoughts – I Bend So I Don’t Break

There are so many reasons I work out; so many reasons I CHOOSE to MOVE my body.

Dealing with life and the ups and downs is definitely one of them – if you ask anyone close to me, they will tell you that moving my body has been my preferred method of stress relief for almost 6 years now.

It’s free; it doesn’t come with a sizable credit card bill the next month, it doesn’t come with a hangover…

There are so many facets of life that are gonna come at you, test you, and try to break you.

Your job? Don’t let them!

Saturday Sweat – The Body ACHIEVES what the mind BELIEVES

“The obstacle is the way. You gotta go through it.”

My trainer said this during my workout today, and she couldn’t be more spot on! Oftentimes we come to obstacles and our thoughts go to “how can I get around this? Over this? Under this?”

You know how in an obstacle course, if you go around them you get disqualified? Same premise!

You gotta go through it. That’s just the only way. And I’ve had to level up and go through tons of obstacles myself, and you know what? That’s a big reason why I’m now so confident and secure in my abilities!

There is definitely something to be said for the feeling of coming to and obstacle, working through it, and coming out the other side.

Get your MIND right and there’s no obstacle that stands a chance 😉

Worth It Wednesday – Mind. Body. Spirit.

Do you feel you are well rounded in wellness? Sometimes I do, and sometimes I don’t. I don’t struggle with fitness, as I truly love the outlet and how I feel after.

But I definitely struggle with mind/spirit… those are the challenging ones, for me. I work on my mindset every day, but it is still too easy for me to go back to a negative state which dampens my spirit and makes things seem worse than they actually are!

Personal development, acupuncture, Tapping and sweat therapy are helping, but the battle is definitely there.

Tuesday Thoughts – Obstacles Into Opportunities

“Who the hell wants to take health and fitness advice from a Diabetic?!” – actual words that left my mouth when I was approached about the Beachbody opportunity. I know… SO cringeworthy.

But at the time, it felt totally true. It really did seem ludicrous that I could help ANYONE, when I was barely helping MYSELF.

Here’s where the beauty of BELIEF, power of personal development, and FAITH come into play – I didn’t know the HOW, I just knew the WHY. And the WHY helped me figure out the HOW. It helped the big picture come into play, and the big picture would be accomplished by the small steps, day in and day out.

I no longer feel that way about myself as a Diabetic and my abilities as a Coach. So here is where I tell you that if YOU have any silly reason why YOU shouldn’t be able to change your life – toss that notion into the trash… you CAN do anything, and people WILL join and support you along the way!

It boils down to just being real, being authentic, being YOU – people can resonate with that!

Monday Musings – Coach Life

I really love coaching because in a world full of things I can’t control and don’t enjoy, Coaching allows me to control several facets of my life, fuel my feel good tank by helping others feel good, and I ENJOY helping people, I ENJOY keeping myself accountable, I ENJOY my groups, teambuilding, biz powwows, and team calls!

Oh, and making some extra cash to pay off debt and do more good in the world with? YEAH, I enjoy that! Just being honest!

When you find something you enjoy doing, it doesn’t feel like work. And feeling like you are in control of some things? THAT is a pretty awesome feeling.

Ever given some consideration to seeing if this opportunity is for you?  Because there is no obligation —  no contracts,  nothing like that. Like it? Run with it. Don’t feel it’s for you? No hard feelings and you will never have to wonder.

Friday Fit Tip – Do What You ENJOY

I get it — not everyone enjoys working out. And I think that’s mostly because people aren’t doing what brings them JOY, what lifts their MOOD, what they have FUN doing. Like for me, I don’t enjoy cardio, so unless my specific program calls for it, I don’t do much of it, haha.

A big misconception about getting into shape is that looking better on the outside is the best part, but it’s not! Of course getting fit and being healthy are important and huge motivators, but in my experience, mood and energy changes are the most immediate and gratifying part of getting into shape.

Being in shape helps you in every aspect of your life — it helps you sleep better, boosts your energy throughout the day, and puts you in a better mood. Endorphins are awesome!

Bottom line is, you can do whatever fitness activity brings you joy – the more you enjoy it, the more apt you are to stick with it and give it your all. You are not chained to something you don’t enjoy, and the whole point of exercising is to feel GOOD, not to feel DREAD!
