So yesterday I did something extremely rare for me – I missed a Monday!
I still fully believe that you set the tone on Monday, but I was still pretty drained from this past weekend, and it didn’t feel necessary for me to push myself further, rather I felt it best to listen to my body as it let me know it needed some more rest.
I haven’t come all this way having a healthy pregnancy to make dumb decisions NOW!
This is not the same as skipping a Monday because you don’t want to workout, so I’m fine with it. This is what my very pregnant, very drained body needed, and in fact, I’m incredibly proud of how much I have grown on this journey – the Kara of the past definitely would have pushed herself all in the name of ‘never missing a Monday’, but I’ve grown and I have evolved, learning that sometimes rest IS best.
It felt awesome to get back to it today, though!
Mannnn it felt good to get back to it today!
I did a workout designed specifically for the second trimester; it was all strength training, no cardio (my preference, if we’re being 100% honest!) and it felt so good after a few days off and a good stretch yesterday!
And lending more credence to my theory that my daily movement seriously helps stabilize my blood sugars, things have been MUCH better the last two days (days I moved) versus the three days that I didn’t!
Who else is moving today?
I messaged Sara yesterday saying she’s gonna LOVE my new shirt today, because I knew she would… and because it’s true as eff!
Last week was challenging – but we are BACK for another round because there’s moves to perfect! 😉
Back to 45 minute workouts at 4am, back to resistance bands and sliders, and back to mostly clean nutrition… and as sore as we may be, we will do it, because the alternative is to just get by and be mediocre… and pardon my language, but fuck that!
Go make your Monday count!
So this morning was my first run/5k since November, and post-80 Day Obsession/Ultimate Reset.
All my runner friends who did 80DO said the program helped their endurance/stamina and so I was hopeful but also skeptical (I’ve gotten my hopes up ENOUGH this week only to have ‘em dashed down, haha)
Well, here we are… having shaved 1:19 off my average pace, I’d say 80 Day Obsession helped MY endurance too!
And FUCK YEAH I’m stoked about THESE numbers! My first 5k I averaged over 11 minutes! (And today’s run was with a sore arch from the yellow jacket sting, too!)
Cheers to always improving!
