Saturday Sweat – New Distance PR!

WELL THEN!

That’s one way to get your Saturday sweat on! 🙌🏼

I was inspired after a chat with a fellow runner, one who is a large part of why I even took this summer challenge on, so since today is a rest day in my program, I set out to do my thang, log a couple of miles and just keep on keeping on… every bit helps, right? (Right!)

I haven’t run this far since I was a teenager, and for some reason as yet unknown, I did it the day after an all-HIIT leg day?! What the hell was my thought process there?! 😩

I survived… I’m sore, but I feel a little bit like a badass, and this means I’m just a little over a mile from my next feat – a 10k!

Wellness Wednesday – Will Run for Sunrises!

Will run for sunrises!🔅

I LOVE sunrises because I’m a VERY visually oriented person, and sunrises are a gorgeous, very colorful reminder that every day is a new day; a welcome reminder that it doesn’t MATTER what did or didn’t happen last week, and it doesn’t MATTER what will or will not happen next week, that TODAY is a new day to tailor to your needs and to fill up with what makes you happy, what brings you joy, what lights you up.

Don’t worry about the past and don’t fret about the future, just focus on today and appreciate it for what it is – a fresh new slate with which to slay the day!

3 miles in the books today and an absolutely GORGEOUS start to the day humidity, bad air quality and all! The beauty was worth it!

Thursday Thoughts – Celebrate The Journey, Not Just The Destination!

We are our own harshest critics, right?

There are a lot of miles tacked up on this paper, but I was so focused on the END RESULT that I was forgetting to celebrate the JOURNEY of getting there, forgetting to celebrate the fact that my legs have run 49.99 miles in 42 days!

For reference (and if I’m being honest, FUN!), I tallied up all my runs from 21August2017 through 17June2018, for a total of 15 runs and 32.3 miles total, in TEN MONTHS.

From the start of this challenge (18June2018) through 31July2018, I have 17 runs totaling 49.99 miles in SIX WEEKS.

That’s a HUGE difference and I needed the reminder that I’m CRUSHING IT, instead of being ‘woe is me, I’m so behind the pace I set for this.’

Eff no, I’m gonna celebrate faster times, longer runs, frequency, and the fact my legs are gettin’ toned. as. eff!

Don’t be so damn focused on the DESTINATION that you neglect to •appreciate and celebrate• the JOURNEY that gets you there! 😊

 

Wednesday Wisdom – Listen To Your Body!

When your tiny but mighty legs send you a message, you listen! Or at least I do… now!

(I didn’t always…)

My little legs are feelin’ it all today – the program I’m doing, the much more frequent runs, and just life in general can be taxing on our bodies, you know?

And so while I normally run on scheduled rest days to incur some mileage for the 175 mile Summer Challenge, my body needed the break today, and I’ll honor that.

In my group, we talk a lot about sustainability, which means striking the balance between pushing ourselves but also listening and making smart decisions, and I’m proud to have come so far in my journey that I can honor and appreciate •listening•

Sunday Runday – Lucky Wife

If you are lucky enough to have a husband who turns the AC on in your bedroom to cool it off and fills your water jug while you are out running, so both are ready to cool you off post-run, I suggest keeping him 😉

Simple gestures can have the most impact!
