Tip Tuesday – Coconut Oil

Tip Tuesday – Coconut Oil!

Coconut oil is a very useful, multi-tasking product.

There are many ways to use it in everyday scenarios to make life easier (and healthier!). It’s the perfect choice for baking, sautéing, pan-frying and more. It helps stabilize blood sugars, which as a Diabetic, is particularly useful for me!

Here are some of the many uses –

• You can stir a spoonful into your smoothie, oatmeal, soup, stew, or chili!
• You can use coconut oil as a dairy-free replacement for butter or other oils in most recipes.
• A dab on the inside of your nose can help alleviate allergy symptoms.
• It’s also a great, natural way to soothe chapped lips, soften cheeks, remove makeup, and soften cuticles.
• Slice potatoes into medallions and brush with coconut oil before slow-roasting for a crispy outer shell.
• Toast sesame seeds in coconut oil over medium heat until warm and fragrant, then serve over a bed of greens with chopped avocado, shredded coconut, and orange segments. Top with your favorite light vinaigrette. Yum!
• Simmer virgin coconut oil with strips of citrus rind for a sweet smelling body moisturizer.
• Use as a tropical massage oil.
• A little dab rubbed on your hands and then lightly through your hair will get rid of frizz (especially useful in the winter!)
• A tablespoon melted into a cup of hot tea will help soothe a sore throat.
• Mix with salt to remove dry skin on your feet.
• Whip it with a few tablespoons of peanut butter and honey and eat it as a fruit dip. It tastes like a fluffy, nutty, coconutty caramel!

There are literally hundreds of uses for coconut oil, this is just a sampling of it’s uses. We have also dabbed it on Roxy when she had dry skin patches and it worked beautifully!

What is your favorite use for coconut oil? As always, I welcome any suggestions, as I am a huge fan of coconut oil!

Tip Tuesday – Fitness Journey

Just starting out?

Then my number one fitness tip is for YOU!

You don’t have to push play and go full speed right away! If you haven’t been active in a while, your focus should just be on doing what you can and building a fitness foundation. If you feel you can go balls to the wall, great, but often people try to do too much, too soon and it makes them feel defeated, which DEFINITELY does not motivate you to keep going!

It’s perfectly fine to start with a few minutes of exercise and work your way up to a full workout. Five or ten minutes of exercise a day is better than zero minutes! Try to add one minute each day until you can do a full workout.

Just show up – you are worth it and you CAN DO hard things! 💕

Tip Tuesday – Easy Peeling Hard Boiled Eggs!

Anyone else relate?

I LOVE hard boiled eggs but always shy away from making them because NONE of the methods I have tried to make them easier to peel worked… I don’t mind doing some work but getting 15,000 egg shell pieces off (and you ALWAYS miss one, and feel the crunch while enjoying your egg!) is NOT my idea of a good time! So frustrating and you lose half the egg just trying to get it peeled!

I had heard that boiling older eggs, using vinegar, salt, and ice baths were methods worked, and I never had that experience, but surely SOMETHING has to work, right?

So last week I tried something that I have tried a MILLION times – but THIS time, I let it go longer… and then on this past Sunday, I made hardboiled eggs again to test this trick out, and… SUCCESS!!

So I cooked them as I normally do (medium heat to a boil, cover and remove from heat for 10 minutes or so) and then I plunged them into a bowl full of ice and cold water. I have done this before, but never actually given them much time to soak – like a minute or two, and it never worked.

THIS time I let those babies soak for at least 8 minutes, and they peeled beautifully! The membrane was separated which is what makes peeling clean happen, so it seems the trick is to let them soak in the cold water long enough for that!

Do you know of any other foolproof methods?

Cooked perfectly, peeled easily!
MUCH better than 160,000 fragments!
No huge chunks of egg missing, or tons of tiny shells waiting to ruin your mouthful!

Tip Tuesday – Memorize

Y’all, we gotta keep our brains sharp and on point! The best way to do that is to W O R K them!

One good way is to memorize something new every day – it can be something as simple as a quote you love, a popular phrase, song lyrics, a poem, a random fact… it doesn’t matter what it is, what matters is every day you give your brain fuel!

Tip Tuesday – Fellow Obsessioners

Tip Tuesday for my fellow Obsessioners!

If you are like me and have super duper ridiculously sensitive skin, and the band moves involving your hands hurts your hands (such as the move in Booty where you pull band up with opposite hand), and gloves didn’t help, wrap a washcloth around the band – provides much more comfort while not so bulky you can’t still get a grip!

Many thanks to my rockstah Success Partner Sara for clueing me into this! 🙂

(New England winter air does not help the sensitive skin!)

Day 2 of 80 Day Obsession, done!
