Move It Monday – LIIFT4 Round 2!

Back at it! Round 2 began today!

“But Kara, I thought you were taking it a little easier?!”

And I am… I won’t be running as much, and I’m not focusing on increasing my weights as much as I am focusing on my nutrition, and mastering FORM…

But I still need to workout, I still need to move my body. That’s stress relief for me and now is definitely NOT the time to eliminate a much needed source of that!

Move It Monday – Be Willing To Adapt!

I’m a planner.

I learned long ago that if I leave my fitness/wellness up to chance, things are not gonna go as smoothly as they could.

This includes having an idea of what workouts I’ll be doing for the week, if I’m not in the middle of a program.

I had planned to focus on running more in the next couple of weeks while I wait for Sara to finish LIIFT 4, because the air is finally freakin’ running-friendly… and I’d like to {finally} finish the 175 mile challenge.

Buuuuuut oopsie, I forgot to take into account that it’s not light out until later now, and I personally don’t enjoy running when it’s pitch black out (lack of a major sense makes that a little unnerving, for me) and since by the time it’s light out I’m done and showering, we have to plan B it, so that’s what I did!

Gotta have some degree of flexibility and willingness to adapt, or life will be a lot more of a challenge for ya!

Move It Monday!

Whew, good thing today’s workout (a prelude to the next program I am taking on!) was only 20 minutes, because after drinking allllll the drinks and feasting on allllll the foods this past weekend, dragging myself outta bed to move was no easy feat!

But it’s done, and THAT is what matters!

I struggle like anyone else sometimes, but I don’t let my excuses serve as roadblocks – I use them as stepping stones and keep it moving!

Move It Monday – Never Miss a Monday!

I finally got home at 12:45 am… do YOU think I’m getting a workout in today?

If you know me, you know I simply don’t embrace EXCUSES, I embrace SOLUTIONS. And if you have been paying attention, you also probably know that I don’t skip many days, but I DEFINITELY don’t skip Mondays… something about starting the week off with EXCUSES instead of ENDORPHINS doesn’t vibe with me, you know? 😉

So an EXCUSE might be “I’m tired, one skip day won’t hurt” but a SOLUTION would be “sleep in a bit, and just workout a little later than usual!”

One of these gets me to my goals and makes my wellness a priority, and one of them doesn’t – I know which one I’m WORTHY of, so I think I know which one I’ll choose!

(For those wondering: the motivation to actually do it is at 0, but sometimes you gotta rise above that and do it anyways!)

Move It Monday – Memorial Day

There may be some people out there all “today’s a holiday, no need to workout”, whereas MY mindset is today may be a holiday BUT it’s a holiday HONORING those who can no longer get their sweat on; a day honoring the very people who fought so that I COULD!

A great way to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice is to get your sweat on in their memory and honor YOURSELF by moving your {{capable}} body.

A heartfelt thank you to all our brave servicemen/women 💕🇺🇸

Move It Monday – Post Run Muscle Soreness

Raise your hand if your hamstrings were so sore you went to sleep on an ice pack last night?

Totally normal – a reentry into the running world, (especially at that pace 😉) after an almost 6 month hiatus… of course you’re gonna be feeling that!

Here’s where I know I’ve evolved; been empowered and enlightened. The OLD way of thinking would be “I’m sore, that’s a good reason to skip my workout” whereas now I know that MOVING my sore muscles will help get the blood flowing and ease the soreness, so it’s in fact a good reason NOT to skip a workout.

Plus I mean it’s Monday, so I had twice the incentive to move it!
