Flex Friday – Going Backwards… for good reason!

Happy Friday! 😊

Full disclosure: It was hard for me to feel like I was “going backwards”, to see my muscles in flex Friday pics be smaller than they once were.

For months before I was even pregnant, I was setting the stage for pregnancy by not lifting heavy, but rather lifting what I would be able to sustain during pregnancy (which in this case is 10lbs, per my doctor) and so naturally, my muscles aren’t where they were.

And that was hard. As someone who’s always progressing and never looking backwards, as much as I hate to admit it, it was hard.

But the beauty of this is muscle has memory!

This is the path I need right now for a safe pregnancy, and when I’m able, I’ll get right back to kickin’ butt and lifting heavy – after all, I’ll have a baby to set a strong example for! 💕

Flex Friday – January 2019

Yep, I’m looking at my muscles and smiling proudly!

Some might find that conceited, but I’ve come to learn those simply aren’t my people. My people are the ones who understand and applaud why I’m so proud… I work HARD for my muscles. I work HARD to be strong, to be better than I was yesterday; to be the BEST ME I CAN BE.

I work hard to turn my OBSTACLES into my OPPORTUNITIES.

I WORK for them. So, I LOVE them. They are tangible reminders of how VERY FAR I have come.

Say peace out to anyone who judges you for being proud of your hard work! 💪🏼

Flex Friday – Lead By Example

It ain’t easy putting yourself out there, can we just acknowledge that?!

Even though I post flex pics, and it might seem like I’m a bit of a narcissist, it’s actually a daily battle for me to post almost anything body/wellness related…

Because I still sometimes battle the mentality that it’s nothing to write home about. I still sometimes find myself focusing on flaws, and I still sometimes feel silly when posting pics of my efforts.

I still sometimes brace myself for those negative comments that sometimes follow (usually privately because keyboard warriors are not known for their courage 😉).

But do you know why I do it ANYWAYS? Because I’m a FIRM believer in practicing what I preach, and I am ALWAYS telling my challengers to be proud of their efforts and be empowered to share them, so that means rising above my own hang ups and SHARING, being proud and WALKING THE WALK.

I am a lot of things, but a ‘do as I say, not as I do’ person is not one of them!

I only hope to inspire and empower others to feel good enough to share their efforts, be proud of themselves, and know that everything – big or small – IS worth celebrating
