Meal Prep Monday!

I have known for a while how important meal prep is, but it is extra apparent how necessary it is while I am on the Reset – there is no way you can wing this kind of program and not run yourself ragged (effectively defeating the purpose of the Reset anyways!)

I have found doing it in batches works best, as I don’t like to eat food that was prepared a week prior. I do a big Sunday prep, and then a Wednesday night prep, and I do weekend meals as I go (unless I have plans) because weekends are a little easier to be able to cook fresh!

There is something very satisfying about knowing your food is all set, you have healthy stuff to reach for, and you don’t have to run around trying to figure it all out the day of.

One of the things I prepped this weekend was this delicious roasted root medley – carrots, sweet potatoes, onions, and beets. Seasoned to perfection and so tasty!

Do you prep your food?

Earth Day

If you took a shower once a year, you would probably stink and look disheveled, is that fair to say?

So why do we only make a big to-do about taking care of the planet once a year?

COuldn’t we all stand to make a more concentrated effort to take care of our home – not the one with a roof and 4 walls, but the one that houses EVERYTHING and EVERYONE (except the Martians – they like Mars!)

No one is perfect, but is there maybe 1 or 2 things you could do to help clean up the planet, reduce the stress on her, make it a better place that stays beautiful for generations to come?

The compound effect tell us that small efforts, applied consistently, makes a big impact, so maybe today is the day you start using reusable shopping bags (such pretty designs!), or getting a reusable coffee cup for your daily dose of java (I LOVE my bright turquoise one), or maybe you switch all your plastic food storage to Glass (much easier to clean, too!) or something else… there is no shortage of ways. you can make an impact!

To quote my good friend Jeanine, “we can be sad about it or we can make a change”! I challenge you to make Earth Day EVERY day, and I look forward to hearing what changes you implemented!

Progress Report – Ultimate Reset

Today is day 4 on my 21 day cleanse, the Ultimate Reset, and I am feeling pretty good. I have been getting fantastic sleep (and NOT waking up at 4 am to workout is an added bonus) and even when I do wake up to go to the bathroom at night (inevitable with the amount of water I drink!), I am still able to fall back to sleep (that is not always the case during normal routines).

I have been well fed, as the Reset provides you with a LOT of food, and I have been trying NEW foods as the recipes call for them, and it’s fun to try new things and add to your arsenal of recipes, am I right?

I haven’t had coffee in 4 days now, and while I was a little nervous about that aspect (and the lack of cheese!), so far so good. My normal default is to get a headache if I don’t have some coffee in my system by about 10am, so this is a pleasant surprise.

I already feel less bloated, which given the time of month I am doing this during, I would say that is a huge victory!

I resisted this program for so long (4 years to be precise) because I kept focusing on all I wouldn’t be able to have, but I think it’s when you make the shift from focusing on the negative, to focusing on the positive that you set yourself up to be successful. I am far from done, as I am on day 4/21, but I feel confident I can do this, and I no longer see it as depriving me from my beloved cheese and coffee. It’s cleansing me out and adding vitality and vibrancy to my life, and I am so glad I made the decision to commit!

I think the secret truly is one day at a time (except when it comes to food prep for this – that’s more like 3 days at a time 😉)

Transformation Tuesday – 80 Day Obsession Final Results!

Some people chase physical transformations. Some people chase the number they want the scale to show them. There is nothing wrong with that, it’s just not what I do all of this stuff for. I don’t workout to lose weight. I do always love a physical transformation, because who doesn’t want to SEE their efforts in their reflection? But it’s never the goal for me.

As I mentioned in previous posts, I wasn’t taking this program on for a physical transformation… I would say if any goal I had going in, it was mental/emotional. I needed to heal and I needed to feel strong, capable… I needed a release for the intense emotions swirling around in my heart and my head.

I will say I came out of this program MUCH stronger; my legs have always been notoriously hard to tone, and I definitely feel my legs are significantly stronger, I’ve always had a booty but I can’t say she’s ever been this high and mighty, and I gained some fierce muscles! The biggest reward is {{ REALIZING }} that I am worth all of this effort; that there is hope, I can heal, and I am the best project I will ever work on.

For too long, NONE of that felt true.

I am so proud of myself for buckling down and getting back into the swing of things – I lived my life; I didn’t follow the nutrition plan to an absolute T but I did eat cleaner and struck a good balance, and I am happy with my results.

I am especially happy to be out of the deep, dark place I was in – this is why I say fitness heals; because it DOES.

If YOU are in a dark place and you want someone alongside of you to lift you up, and show you the way back to love and light… it would be an absolute honor to help you!

Movement Monday – Stretch and Release from 80 Day Obsession

You wanna know something?

It’s kinda tough to go from intense workouts 6 days a week to 3 weeks of no workouts, only gentle movement.
So I had said I was gonna see how I felt when I wake up as to whether or not I “sleep in” or get up and move…
Well I mean its Monday and thats a really difficult day for me to do nothing, so I did Stretch and Release (from the program I just finished!) and look who joined me for some stretching (my babe LOVES her a good stretch!)
It felt good to S T R E T C H!
What’s your movement today? It doesn’t have to be intense to be beneficial!

Soul Care Sunday – Prepping Together

I would be absolutely remiss if I didn’t show my gratitude and appreciation for this guy right here, for just being him and being amazing every day, but also today he spent hours helping me food prep for my next adventure that begins tomorrow – the Ultimate Reset!

Some people have spouses they need to beg to help them, I have one that steps in voluntarily to help me, to support me (and let’s be honest – to check me and keep me from being completely overwhelmed!) and I am SUPER lucky to have that and I know it! Thank you babe – love you!

I am prepped, packed, and ready to take on the Challenge – yes, I am a little nervous (but that’s normal!) but I am EXCITED and empowered, because I KNOW this is what my internal system NEEDS!

Does your spouse help with meal prep?
