Whole Foods Wednesday – Almond Butter

Who likes almond butter? I love to take a single serving packet of Justin’s almond butter, and use it on my toast, or in my Shakeology! It’s so good.

And bonus… it’s good FOR you! Almond butter has great Vitamin E content, which, as an antioxidant, vitamin E can neutralize free radicals, preventing these harmful chemicals from oxidizing your DNA and proteins, which damages your cells.

It also has a greater magnesium content than regular Peanut Butter! Just one tablespoon of almond butter contains 45 milligrams of magnesium, which is 11 percent of the magnesium requirements for men and 14 percent for women, according to the Office of Dietary Supplements.

Another perk is Iron.  Iron promotes healthy oxygen transport; it helps you make hemoglobin and myoglobin, two proteins that oxygenate your tissues. Iron also helps to protects your cells from oxidative damage by helping to activate antioxidant enzymes in your cells.

All nut butters have benefits, but they are not all created equal!
